Kate Ross is named Team Leader of the Year 2018 in top tech awards.

Smart Pension's head of programme delivery Kate Ross has picked up a top industry technology award.

Kate, who heads up Smart's strategic programme delivery group, was named Team Leader of the Year in the Women in IT Excellence Awards 2018.

Kate said: "I'm absolutely delighted to pick up this award on behalf of all the amazing women operating at the highest level in our programme delivery teams here at Smart.

"This is recognition for the all important roles women play in financial technology and in building the systems that are solving complex, age-old pension industry problems.

"I hope this not only inspires the next generation of women to seek a career in coding for engineering and technology, but also draws attention to the great work being done to make that entirely achievable."

Sam Barton, Smart's Chief Technology Officer, said: "Kate and her team have put in outstanding work in smashing the fintech glass ceiling and delivering exemplary work within our platform development and programme delivery teams. It's still sadly unusual to see so many women operating at this level in technology, but we hope that by highlighting all their hard work and achievements, things will change."

The Women in IT Excellence awards were designed to shine a spotlight on 'the mould-breaking, ceiling-smashing female talent rising up the ranks and shaking up the industry.'
