Anything that can be done on our customer facing platforms can be done using our API. With our API you can:

  • create company details and pension scheme set up
  • create advisers, used for firms managing many schemes
  • set up new employees or update existing employee details
  • submit pre-calculated pension contributions, or contributions to be assessed
  • update existing and unpaid contributions
  • get employee membership / opt out states
  • postpone individual employees
  • send assessment and other statutory letters
  • send batch requests for multiple payrolls or creating multiple schemes

Light – use our API to manage employee records, contributions and assessment data.

Medium – everything light integration offers, plus retrieve opt outs/opt ins and percentage increases

What it costs

There’s no charge to connect to our API. However, you need to support your own development costs when integrating with our API.

Excel and CSV

This payroll platform supports Excel and CSV upload. The process involves you manually filling in an Excel template or CSV template that we provide. You then upload it to the Smart Pension assessment tool. We run the assessment and calculate the pension contributions for you.

API through middleware

Some providers such as Pensionsync, AE Exchange and Aeclipse provide a bridge between your payroll software and Smart Pension. You'll need to create an account and pay the middleware provider, though this is usually only a few pounds per month.

If you're already using a Employment Hero PensionSync enabled payroll package, you can pass data directly to Smart Pension today regardless of whether you are an auto enrolment customer or a Workplace customer.

PAPDIS

This payroll platform supports PAPDIS integration (Payroll And Pension Data Interface Standard). PAPDIS is a standard format for moving payroll and pension data between platforms. The process involves you downloading a PAPDIS file from your payroll platform, then uploading it to Smart Pension.
