Payroo

Payroo is a Cloud Payroll and Pension Solution. Payroo offers a cloud based Payroll and Workplace pension combined system allowing you to complete your weekly, monthly or other pay frequency pay runs and AE from anywhere on a PC, Mac, Tablet or Smartphone.

  • This simple to learn and use intuitive driven system has been recognised by HMRC for more than 15 years and has many thousands of happy users. You can easily get on board and fulfill your Payroll and AE needs securely, quickly, and with full HMRC and Pension Regulation compliance.
  • Your RTI returns to HMRC are auto-compiled and e-filing can be completed with the click of the mouse. You can choose to have secure electronic self-service payslips or traditional printed out payslips, or both. Many useful reports are also provided.
  • The Auto Enrolment (AE) process under Payroo has been made simple. You do not need to do any additional processing for your AE obligation. After each pay run the AE assessment will be done automatically and AE letters generated for eligible job holders. The non-eligible job holders, entitled workers and opt in letters are also generated for you.
  • AE contribution files for respective Pension providers are provided too.
  • Salary Sacrifice, saving both the employer and the employee tax and NIC contributions, is also provided with easy set up

Direct API

This payroll platform integrates with the Smart Pension API. It is the easiest way to send us your payroll and pension data (also known as "one click" or "direct integration"). The process simply involves you clicking a button on your payroll platform, which sends the data directly to Smart Pension.

Build with our API

Anything that can be done on our customer facing platforms can be done using our API. With our API you can:

  • create company details and pension scheme set up
  • create advisers, used for firms managing many schemes
  • set up new employees or update existing employee details
  • submit pre-calculated pension contributions, or contributions to be assessed
  • update existing and unpaid contributions
  • get employee membership / opt out states
  • postpone individual employees
  • send assessment and other statutory letters
  • send batch requests for multiple payrolls or creating multiple schemes

Light – use our API to manage employee records, contributions and assessment data.

Medium – everything light integration offers, plus retrieve opt outs/opt ins and percentage increases

What it costs

There’s no charge to connect to our API. However, you need to support your own development costs when integrating with our API.

Excel and CSV

This payroll platform supports Excel and CSV upload. The process involves you manually filling in an Excel template or CSV template that we provide. You then upload it to the Smart Pension assessment tool. We run the assessment and calculate the pension contributions for you.

API through middleware

Some providers such as Pensionsync, AE Exchange and Aeclipse provide a bridge between your payroll software and Smart Pension. You'll need to create an account and pay the middleware provider, though this is usually only a few pounds per month.

If you're already using a Employment Hero PensionSync enabled payroll package, you can pass data directly to Smart Pension today regardless of whether you are an auto enrolment customer or a Workplace customer.

PAPDIS

This payroll platform supports PAPDIS integration (Payroll And Pension Data Interface Standard). PAPDIS is a standard format for moving payroll and pension data between platforms. The process involves you downloading a PAPDIS file from your payroll platform, then uploading it to Smart Pension.
