Eamon Mulholland has left his role as Head of Business Management at Lloyd's Group Services division to join Smart
Smart Pension has brought in ex-Lloyds operations expert Eamon Mulholland as an executive consultant.
Mulholland left his role as head of business management at Lloyd's Group Services division to join Smart's digital auto enrolment platform after three decades with the bank in a variety of senior leadership roles including chief operating officer (COO) in Financial Markets Sales, Portfolio Management and operational risk functions within the wholesale and commercial bank.
At Smart Pension, he will be helping to strategically develop projects and processes as the firm experiences rapid growth. It now employs more than 100 employees across the UK and its platform has half a million members via 90,000 employer workplace pension schemes.
He said: "It's a very exciting prospect to be part of the process of building a young business like Smart Pension, and it brings with it a sense of freedom."
"Smart Pension has innovation at its core, and it's refreshing to be joining the team as it explores a range of opportunities to leverage its award-winning technology platform."
Andrew Evans, CEO and co-founder of Smart Pension said: "Eamon's role will be a strategic one to ensure our processes and governance are optimised for efficiency now and into the future."
"Eamon has impressive and extensive experience in operations, risk and project management that we will be tapping into. He will effectively provide strategic guidance across a range of current projects as well as helping to prepare us for the enormous opportunities we know are on the horizon."
He will be working closely with Jamie Fiveash, Smart Pension's COO, who joined the firm in February from The People's Pension. Eamon's appointment follows that of Paul Budgen, NEST's former director of business development, to the senior team last month.
Mulholland added: "The firm is making some really impressive hires. Strategically this is adding to its credibility, and demonstrates that the firm is ready for the next phase of growth."
Smart Pension is MAF-accredited and has been awarded a 5-star Defaqto rating for the last three years. In June 2017 it was named as Fintech Innovation of the Year and overall winner in the Digital Leaders 100 Awards.
It has an average score of 4.4 out of 5 in Google reviews from its customers.
Launched in 2015, Smart Pension exceeds £6bn in assets under management (AUM) and now serves over 1.4 million members and more than 70,000 employers. It is powered by Keystone, Smart’s global savings and investments technology platform.
