Why you can trust us

The Smart Pension Master Trust is authorised and supervised by The Pensions Regulator, and members' funds are protected under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)

What it costs

Most advisers and employers pay nothing to use the Smart Pension self-service auto enrolment platform. Scheme members typically pay an annual management charge (AMC) of 0.75%.

Employers and advisers – free of charge in most cases

Most employers and advisers pay nothing at all to use Smart Pension's self-service auto enrolment platform. However, there are some charges you might incur, depending on how the account is managed.

Reconciliation service fee: £25 per hour

Most companies do this themselves and don't need this service. The service involves reviewing the account on your behalf to reconcile contribution data to your payroll records, and if applicable, identify any inconsistencies that need correcting.

BACS fee: from £10 per submission

If you do your electronic money transfers via Direct Debit, there's no charge. If you want to use BACS, there's a small charge for each submission, depending on the size of your scheme (Under 10 members: £10; 11-50 members: £25; 51-100 members: £45; over 101 members: £65).

Persistent late payment: from £10 each time

If you submit your employees' pension contributions late, there may be a small may charge for each subsequent submission (Under 10 members: £10; 11-50 members: £25; 51-100 members: £40; over 101 members: £60).

Members – typically 0.75% AMC

Most members pay 0.75% Annual Management Charge (AMC). Some members will pay slightly different charges, depending on the funds they choose and the scheme's set-up. In both cases, the AMC includes the charge for the funds and the charge for using the Smart Pension platform all in one.
