You may see this referred to as Mercer Smart Pension from time to time, but it’s important to understand that you are a participating employer of the Smart Pension Master Trust.
We will also make sure this is clear when we communicate with your employees about the new pension scheme.

Your employees will be able to keep track of their pension savings wherever they go and whenever they like. They can change their investments, check their beneficiaries and more.

Your employees will have access to Smart Rewards, a free benefit with over 1,400 rewards, helping them to save up to £600* a year in discounts at major retailers across the UK.

Our virtual assistant avatar, SAVA, is capable of responding to your employees’ pensions questions in real-time across all devices, providing customer support 24/7, 365 days a year.
Retirement services
As your employees approach retirement, they have access to a range of Retirement Services to help support decision making. This includes an income drawdown option, as well as access to both digital and in-person financial advice.
Investment options
Your employees have options when it comes to investing their pension savings. They can choose from strategies managed on their behalf, or they can take a more hands-on approach.

What happens next?
Sign the participation agreement
Once you’ve joined Mercer Smart Pension, we’ll send you an email that includes the online participation agreement that you’ll need to sign and complete.
Provide us with payroll information – we’ll guide you through the process
You will then need to upload your current employees’ payroll information so we can collect contributions each month. We’ll ask you to tell us who will be the lead contact on the account so that we can support you along the way and make sure they’re trained on how to do this.
Pay your regular contributions
The last step will be paying us your regular contributions to Mercer Smart Pension each month.
